Farewell to Jim

As we say goodbye to Jim,
We are sorely missing him.
News of his death brought tears,
So good to my mother for years.
The last memory I'm saving,
Is their goodbye smiles and waving.

Jim was her diamond in the rough.
On the outside he seemed gruff,
But after long he couldn't hide
The great big heart he had inside.

First verse written shortly after losing my step-dad,
posted for memorial mass. Second verse written one month
after, and posting for family mass this weekend.

Boston

The Finish Line at last
But then they heard a blast
Then all were running fast
Moment of glory passed
Watching coverage aghast
The damage done was vast

Written yesterday after Boston Marathon tragedy.
Grew up 30 miles north of Boston

Written 11/3/2013 after World Series parade:

Touching Moment
At the Finish Line
Shirt-draped trophy
Will be burned in mind
